Symphony No. 14 Movement 3: Lorelei The Malaguena leads up to the epic poem of Lorelei by Apollinaire. The baritone from De Profundis and the Soprano from Malaguena are now together in this movement, using a relay sequence of melodies and recitatives from both. This movement introduces a percussion section, which adds an implied celestial tone from the celesta and somewhat comp-ing rhythm from the xylophone. Chimes are heard, possibly insinuating Lorelei's demise, followed by a pious pseudo-requiem from the baritone.
