Symphony No. 14, Movement 2: Malaguena The second movement of the 14th symphony erupts from the melancholy aria into a grotesque danse macabre. This movement is mostly focussed on the solo Soprano which embodies somewhat of an innocent bystander screaming at the wave of death that spreads through her homeland. The solo violin could be loosely related to the urban legend of the devil's fiddle which is supposedly characterized through a rhythmic sequence of 5ths in place of a melody
